Our Mission
At BuddyAltus Math Tutoring we are excited to support students who want to improve their math understanding and skills to become proficient at grade level math or beyond. This means being capable of doing the work, be confident to ask questions in class, and solve problems at the board. We know that this requires patience, persistence, and practice. We meet the student where they are.
At the highest level we use math to have students become intellectually curious. This leads to developing an analytical mindset and building problem solving skills to be used for their education, in their careers, and throughout their lives.
On top of this our ultimate goal is for students to see the joy and beauty in math so it becomes as much fun as solving a puzzel.
My Story
My passion for math started with my father's purchase of Time Life's Mathematics book. After reading a chapter I'd wonder when will we get this in school. My made me always do math homework first and eventually take a computer programming course in high school. This made selecting my major as Computer Science Engineering easy. The bonus was all the math required for the major. This enabled me be a software developer and quenched my thirst for analytic thinking and problem solving. Shifting gears I received my MBA and went into the travel industry building technology products making it easier for traveler to book and manage their trips. There was a tremendous amount of data that required an analytic background to assess. Product development requires problem solving skills which was a perfect combination. I found while I wasn't solving technical problems all the time problem solving and analytics skills were part of work everyday. Without my math foundation I wouldn't have been able to do my job. I want to bring the joy of math, problem solving, and analytical thinking to kids at an early age for them to have thoughout the academic life and in their life beyond academics.
